Mentors Helping new Hunters
The mentor program has the following objectives:
1. Provide a safe positive and controlled training environment for youth, minorities, women, handicapped persons and first time hunters and fishers.
2. Provide a positive and organized method of access for hunters and fishers.
3. Conduct these activities in a safe friendly environment that complies with all state federal and local regulations.
4. Provide a hunting/fishing experience that is characterized by restraint and is fair chase in the spirit of the great tradition of hunting and fishing.
• The mentors will attend a mentoring skills workshop and an orientation that confirms roles, responsibilities, safety, ethics, technical skills and reporting requirements.
Our goals:
1. Promote and support first time and new hunters and fishers to reinforce the positive memories of the hunt/fishing in a safe friendly environment.
2. Provide some unique gifts/tokens of the hunt or fishing excursion.
3. Recognize participants as “hunting/fishing heroes”.
4. Create an inventory of mentors, participants and Landowner hosts/sponsors.
5. Create a data base to maintain identity with the participants in the mentorship programs…
6. Recruit a base of support from like minded individuals who want to pass it on.
7. Sponsor hunts, fishing excursions and introductions into the outdoor world
8. Circulate a newsletter to inform supporters on the activities of the Foundation
9. Tell our story, mission and purpose to as many willing listeners as possible.
10. Solicit support from the hunting and fishing community, including industry, government, foundation and individuals.
